Gorilla tour THe United National Development Programme had donated USD 3395 for the conservation of the albertine forests of Uganda. The funds which were channeled through the World Wide Fund and Ministry of Water and Environment Gorilla trekking will promote better forest management on private lands in the districts of Hoima, Masindi, and Kibale where most primates live.
The United Nations Development Programme Environment specialist, Justin E, said that the Albertine Rift Eco-Region is the most important forest eco-system in Africa gorilla safari in terms of biodiversity, transversing across the Great Lakes Region of East- Central Africa covering countries such as DRC, Uganda, Tanzania,Rwanda and Burundi.
Ecaat, however, noted that these highly valued forests have been under increasing threat from the ever growing demands for settlement, gorilla tracking and from rural communities whose utmost levels of poverty make them dependent on forest resources for their surival.
