Uganda Gorilla Trekking , Rules and Information

BEFORE YOU EMBARK ON GORILLA TREKKING
You are advised to wash your hands before you start you gorilla trekking trip.

ON YOUR WAY TO THE GORILLAS
-Try as much as possible to keep your voices as low as possible. its through this that you will have a great time viewing various birdlife and wildlife in the impenetrable forest.

- Rubbish is something that you must not leave in the pak. Please carry back the rubbish you came with.

- A minimum of 8 people are allowed to visit a particular group. so as you plan with your friends, keep this in mind. This is meant to help with behavioural disturbances and also risk to human diseases to the gorillas.

ON MEETING THE GORILLAS

-Keep a distance of at least 5 metres or 15 feet from the gorillas.
- Much as you may ask questions, please keep the voices low.
-Stay together in tight groupĀ  during this meeting
-No eating or drinking when you are near these apes
-Sometimes the gorillas can charge. please dont run.. Crouch down slowly and avoid looking directly in the eyes of the gorillas at this time.
-Flash photography is not permitted.
-Dont touch the gorills
-Maximum time you can spend with these apes is 1 hour.

HEALTH RULES

The gorillas are very susceptible to human diseases. The following are ways to minimize the risk your visit might poses to them:

If you are feeling ill, or you are carrying a contagious disease, please volunteer to stay behind. An alternate visit will be arranged for you, or you will be refunded your money.

If you feel the urge to cough or sneeze when you are near the gorillas, please turn your head away and cover your nose and mouth in order to minimize the spread of bacteria or viruses.

If you need to defecate, whilst in the forest, please ask the guide to dig you a hole with his panga. Make sure the hole is 30cms deep and fill it in when you are finished.
